Common Questions

What is a truck with a tandem axle?

A tandem-axle truck has two axles and is designed to distribute weight more evenly and increase load capacity.

What is the difference between a day cab and a sleeper tractor?

The main difference between a day cab and a sleeper is that a day cab truck does not have a sleeping cabin. Long-haul drivers often take advantage of the sleeping cabin when they need a break from driving.

What is the difference between a tractor-trailer and a day cab?

A day cab is a type of tractor that can be hooked up to a trailer for transporting goods, while a tractor-trailer is the combination vehicle of a day cab or sleeper tractor pulling a trailer.

What’s the difference between a tandem axle and a dual axle?

A dual-axle and a tandem-axle are two words for the same thing: a vehicle with two axles. The second axle is positioned directly behind the first, and both axles have a wheel on each end.

What are the advantages of a tandem axle?

  • Excellent stability
  • Smoother ride since weight is distributed more evenly over two axles
  • Can haul heavier loads
  • A flat tire is not as problematic, as there are four tires
